Design at the service of the baby, for its comfort and safety

The new WOB baby stroller is designed to offer maximum comfort to the baby in extreme conditions of lack of space, small elevators, long flights of stairs, access to public transport, etc. They have been inspired by Japan since it is one of the cities in which the situations are most extreme:

  • The geographical limitation: Nearby volcanoes force the population to concentrate in habitable areas. Only the 30% of its surface is suitable for building.
  • Vibration excess: Constant seismic movements and earthquakes on a daily basis. These conditions have forced them to develop an innovative and unique technology in the world that faces vibration with flexibility instead of resistance.
  • Demanding with the baby's needs: Japanese culture defends that if a baby is happy during the first three years of life, tomorrow it will be a balanced adult. This happiness is not subject to a baby that laughs a lot and cries little, but to the fact that it has respected its optimal growth and development phases. Not only physical but emotional and psychological, because they are all linked to each other. Does it ring a bell? Something similar says respectful parenting, right?

Surely you have heard of countries where they solve extreme conditions (such as snow, beach, forests, etc.) with robust strollers, with large and somewhat heavy structures. In Japan this is not possible due to what has been previously described, but they do not want to give up covering the baby's needs. Therefore they choose to change robustness for flexibility. And it is on this concept that NIDUS is inspired, which, without being a Japanese 100% car, is inspired by its technology to bring to Spain a solution adapted to our culture.

The needs of the baby and the parents

7 baby needs covered by NIDUS:

To understand the NIDUS philosophy you have to analyze the baby's needs first.

  • Absence of vibration: At birth, the fontanelles are open and until 18 months, there is a considerable distance between the skull and the brain, so vibrations must be avoided by all means so as not to alter the rhythm of rest and wakefulness.

The NIDUS is equipped with a damping system in 2 different phases:

Newborn phase up to 6 months and phase from 6 months. To do this, play with 4 elements to adapt the cushioning to its different stages: Hammock / carrycot height, mattress, chassis and wheels.

  • 1A.- Newborn phase:
  1. Carrycot height adjustment: The smaller the baby, the lower the carrycot needs to go on uneven terrain so that it oscillates as little as possible, so from newborn it will go in position 1 (the lowest)
  2. The cushioning of the wheels is hard in this first phase, and the weight is not enough for the chassis (which is flexible) to start acting, so the part in charge of Cushioning when using the carrycot is your mattress, which has two floors: The first (compact) considerably reduces the 90% of the vibration transmitted from the asphalt to the mattress. The second (deformable mini-cubes) eliminates residual vibration, which would otherwise be transmitted to the head. The mini-cubes are in turn made up of four mini-cubes, ensuring that neither the head nor any other part of the body comes into contact with any rigid surface and adapting to the differences in weight that exist between each of the areas of the body, eliminating not only vibration, but the feeling of pressure. It is the first mattress with a zero pressure system, which is also complemented by the 5-degree inclination with which the textile has been made.
  3. The base of the carrycot has an inclination of 5º, so that the head is slightly above the feet. This inclination will serve to keep the head slightly elevated, distributing its weight (which is the highest) on the back and minimizing the risk of positional plagiocephaly (flattening of the skull).
  • 1 B.- Second stage: (up to 10 kg approx.): Once the baby has left the carrycot (recommended use of the same 6 months) it will go to the hammock of the chair. When the weight is lower, the damping is carried out slightly by the wheels and to a greater extent by the flexibility of the chassis itself, which absorbs a good part of the energy in this phase. The height of the hammock at this point can be at level 1 or level 2. And on the back we must always provide it with a support surface, which is located on the mat.
  • 1 C.- Third phase: (From 10 kg): As the weight increases, the damping of the wheels begins to act, the effort of the chassis is reversed, with most of the work falling on the damping of the wheels and at this point, due to Since the weight of the child and the cushioning of the wheels are compensated, the hammock can be placed in the highest position, but we will still maintain the mat. The hammock mat comes with a summer and a winter fabric.
  • Enough space: The newborn baby needs space for two reasons: To be able to carry out reflex movements of adjustment of tendons and muscles and to increase his thoracic capacity, since the lungs are developing. So it has a large carrycot, without any interior accessory with which to hit or limit it in any way to be able to place the arms on each side of the body, a natural position for them.
  • Pressure distribution: The pressure when the baby goes in the carrycot is distributed by the mini-cubes of the mattress, and when he goes in the hammock, he does it thanks to his mattress and the four support points that a hammock in the shape of a 4 lying down has, as is that of the NIDUS. With this type of hammock, the blood circulates correctly because the support points are divided into 4 areas: head, back, and hamstrings.
  • Smooth changes of position: Since it is important to respect the rhythm of the dream, if we want to modify its position, it must be done as gently as possible, especially if you are asleep. It is normal to walk and the child falls asleep while sitting. In these conditions, the most ideal is a tilting hammock so that they do not notice the change of position, because at the same time that we lower our heads, they raise their feet, so that the spine does not experience any change in position at any point. This tilting system is the most comfortable and least aggressive, for children and adults.
  • Absence of light: The skin of the eyelids of newborns is very thin, so that, although he is asleep, light shines through and may affect rest, unless we keep him in a dark environment. To prevent this from happening, the hood visor is made of a rigid material where light does not pass. Being a unique hood for both carrycot and chair.
  • Solar protection: Since the skin is especially vulnerable to sunlight, it is important to keep the sun at bay. For this, the basic fabrics of the entire car are black, and gray, since the darker they are, the more they protect from the sun. In addition, the hood has a ventilation at the back whose interior mesh is anti-grape. This, together with the type of fabric and the rigid visor, protects from the sun avoiding heat concentration due to ventilation. However to avoid excess sun it is important to avoid the hottest hours of the day, especially in summer.
  • Stable temperature: The baby's thermal regulation system is very slow, making it difficult for them to adapt to a new temperature. This is especially evident when we enter a shopping center from the street or vice versa. The temperature change is always very abrupt regardless of whether we are in winter or summer. For this it is necessary to use thermal materials that do not alter the temperature. In the case of the carrycot we will not find plastic. Its base is breathable DM, preventing moisture from accumulating. On this basis is the mattress that is covered with a non-removable lyocel cover (natural 100% material, of vegetable origin obtained from the pulp of the wood through a completely ecological process and is capable of absorbing 50% more moisture than cotton and also dries faster). It is a regulator of temperature and inhibits the growth of bacteria and mites naturally. It washes without problem in the washing machine and dries quickly. Inside this sheath is the Dryfeel core, which consists of a fully perforated material to constantly allow air circulation. The outer fabric of the carrycot, as well as the hood, is insulating against temperature and sun, while that of the interior with which the baby is in contact is soft and breathable. When the baby uses the chair, the NIDUS has a double-sided mat: winter and summer, mounted on a black hammock whose breathable inner fabric and insulating exterior. For areas with excessive heat, it is possible to resort to the height adjustment of the carrycot and seat, increasing the distance between them and the ground, because in this way we move them away from the asphalt, which, in extreme temperatures, tends to give off a lot of heat .

4 adult needs covered by NIDUS:

Once we know what is good for the baby, we also have to assess what parents need to make it a comfortable and practical stroller.

  1. Hello, is there a manufacturer website where you can see the accessories that this stroller has? sleeping bag, rain bubble, mosquito net ... Thank you

  2. Hello and some maxicosi that can be adapted? I already have the car with the carrycot and the seat but I would like to know if there is any model of maxicosi that can be attached to it
    Thank you

    1. They explained to me in the store that maxicosi cannot be adapted, precisely because the maxicosi does not allow the baby to be in an ergonomic posture, and the Japanese do not use it.

  3. Hello Pili

We are thinking of buying this cart, what opinion do you have of it? Is it tough? Thank you

  4. I bought it and I really like the concept, but I miss an accessory such as a mat, a carrycot cover for your measurements, blankets, adapter for chair group 0, etc. Can they be purchased somewhere? Thank you

    1. Hello Maria, we also like this stroller a lot but before we dare to buy it we would like to know the opinion of someone who has already been using it for a while. We especially like it for how light it looks and for its compact folding. For our day to day we need to meet these characteristics in addition to of course being respectful and safe for the baby. We would love for you to give us your opinion with the pros and cons that you see, we would appreciate it very much. Thank you

      1. Hello Ana.

We buy it for the same objectives that you are looking for. Up to now we are delighted, we will see how time passes by the seat. What I do assure you that we are delighted with is the lightness and the folding, it makes our daily life with the baby easier. We will see how it works over time. We've only been in the chair for a couple of weeks. If you go for the wob nidus you already tell us your experiences.

        Cheers

    2. Hello Maria,

We are also quite determined to buy this cart. Can you tell us about your experience in these months? Al do you know which sheets or winter bags can be used? Do you know if they are the measurements of the bugaboo?

Thank you very much for your help

      1. I bought it mainly because of the size, because the uppa and the bugaboo did not fit me in the elevator. I am very happy with it. It is light, manageable and my baby is very comfortable. At the moment I have only used the carrycot and I bought a Jané bag that fits perfectly. Now I'm looking for a good saddle bag.

  5. Good again
We were looking for comfort, lightness and space economy.
After spending these 3 months I have to say that I still like it because it weighs little and folds very well. It is very manageable and does not cost to carry it. I'm still with the carrycot, we'll see the chair. The baby is doing very well. However, I am missing the fact that a group 0 chair can be attached, especially to simplify my movements and when he is asleep, since he has to be caught to put him in the carrycot and sometimes he wakes up; or simply, I don't have space for carrycot, chassis and group 0.

The carrycot flattens well and is reduced to the top of the harnesses, normally we carry it without the lateral reinforcements it has to hold the fabric because we are continually folding and unfolding it and it was heavy to remove and insert the cartons. Another stick is that you have to change the carrycot every time you fold it, since it can only be done one way. The buttons to remove the frame from the chassis are hard and at least I cannot press both at the same time.

The folding is not complicated but, with the carrycot, both hands are needed and also to unfold since you have to unhook the closure. Sometimes when it is folded vertically, it opens only due to the transfer of weight.

When it came to finding sheets and more, I had to go underground in hand, since it does not have standard measurements and the brand is so austere that it does not have its own accessories. does not have the measurements of the Bugaboo.

Without detracting from the Japanese, the downside is that it does not admit group 0 chair and that it cannot be folded and unfolded with one hand.

    1. Now that I have to move to the chair, I see that the sachets do not hold well, since there is nowhere to grab it from above when going with the zipper hooked to the metal part ...
The truth that you are right, you are missing something else from his accessories, even if it is the basics ...

        1. I put a bag that I bought at amazon, it's called Zamboo or something like that. It is very warm.
Another problem that came to me was a failure to deploy the car, which did not open. I have to go find the new one to see how it is.

  6. Hello everyone,
We bought this cart and we really regretted it a lot. For starters, the hood does not have good finishes. It is not firmly open at all, in addition to being short, it does not cover my baby's face well when we are walking, I always end up covering the hood with the big muslin so that the sun does not hit the face, (I speak of the carrycot ), and it is narrow and elongated, so now that he is 3 months old I see it narrow for him. It is very uncomfortable to change the diaper in the carrycot, it lacks space ... In addition, the cushioning system prevents putting it on top of the carrycot since it leans forward and the blood drains to the head, (the explanation is exaggerated but it is so that you understand me) ... so you have to put it down completely and, in addition to the security bar that is right on his face, we neither see his face nor can he see us ... come on, it seems that we are walking a car empty. People ask me why I take it so low and when I give the explanation they hallucinate. Now we are looking forward to changing to the chair, let's see if we like it a little more, but from what I read in the comments I think it will be more of the same. In short ... if I have another baby I will not use this very safe ...

    1. Hi Mer, now that I have moved her to the chair I am starting to see more defects as well ... for me basically the one that does not stretch to sleep without having my feet up, and being able to change it there if necessary. The hood also begins to deform the part that opens by unfolding the parts, and like many others, it does not completely cover.
It is also very narrow, and I do not see that I can be in this car until the end of the days of driving (as I intended).
The plastic from the rain doesn't fit well; Luckily it rains little here and I used it twice in 6 months.
Now I will have to look at a chair where the girl is comfortable and practical and manageable ...

      1. The truth is that I was sorry that I bought it very excited and a point has come that I have even thought of buying another ... it is a pity ... with how beautiful and light it is ...
How many months did you spend your little one in the chair? In the end I will end up buying one of umbrellas, what are we going to do ...
        Greetings!!

        1. I spent it with 4 and a half months, now it is 6 and a half and I am already thinking of buying another one soon ... yes, a pity, but now it will be time to put it on wallapop ... hehe

  7. Hello, today I went to see carts and I liked this a lot, but I see very few opinions in general and all in Spain, do you know if it is a brand of aqaq? Apart from that, to those of you who have been with him for a while, can you tell me about your experiences and if I would recomend it? I appreciate the weight and size, but of course, it is also good for the baby and I see that not all opinions have been the same, so it would help me to learn more. Thank you

    1. Hello Macarena, I do not know what that brand is aqaq… .hehe.
Personally, I have been using it for 9 months and I am looking at another one.
Advantages: very light, handy, light weight, easy to fold.
Disadvantages: narrow both the cuckoo and the chair (Now it shows even more). Rain cover adapts fatally. If the baby wants to sleep (in the chair) and you put him to bed, the legs are up. This I think is the worst for me ... also you can not change the diaper there if necessary (there are not always changers when you go there).
It does not have its accessories, so you have to look at things that adapt.

I personally would not buy it again.

Well, here I leave you my grain of sand…. Now is your decision. A greeting.

      1. Thank you very much, the truth is that it will be my first child and now that I have started to look at carts there are so many that I do not know that it is important to look. It has become clear to me, without a doubt that it is so narrow and especially that of the legs when knocking him down is something quite negative. Thanks for your experience.

        1. It is also my first little one and I did not fall into those things, hence the emphasis on what I did not see in its day ... My intention was to have a car until I did not use it, but in the end, due to a bad choice, it was my turn buy another so that my little one sleeps comfortably (stretched and wide), every time I need it. Good luck in your choice!

  8. Hello! Has anyone broken the chassis? My car is 6 and a half months old and first I kept the handlebar in my hand, (after 4 months approx), they changed it for me, and now it is the brake that has said that we have come this far…
I would like to know if it is of very poor quality or if I have been unlucky.
Tomorrow I will call the store to have it changed again, the truth is that I feel ashamed ...

    1. Hello
It has a guarantee so ... Take it
The hood came up broken and they changed it for me.

The side bars came off the top when I deployed it about the fifth month, I could put them hollowing with a screwdriver.

The brake sometimes fails, yes, and it does not come off well.
And the buttons to unhook the saddle from the chassis, very hard
