Surely those who are about to be parents have ever heard that one of the main accessories for the baby is muslin. They will have told you that they are useful for everything and that they are very 'tasty' for the baby. Totally true!

Muslin?

Muslin is a small piece of fabric, usually square, made of cotton thread or a combination of bamboo. They are very fine, vaporous, soft, they weigh very little and you can take them with you and your baby anywhere. Also, since these blankets are made with natural products, they are ideal for the care of baby's skin.

What are muslin used for?

Muslins are good for a lot of things and I'm sure if you ask several different mothers, each one will tell you something new. Let's see if we can give you some ideas:

  • To wrap the baby. This is the most common use. During the first months of life, the baby misses the feeling of being in the mother's womb. He does not understand space because he has been in a delimited space for nine months, so he likes to be wrapped. It makes you feel safe, protected, helps you regulate the temperature and prevents spasms caused by the 'Moro reflex', which can sometimes break sleep.
  • To cover the baby while breastfeeding. In winter due to the cold, it serves to give it another layer of heat. In summer due to the heat, there is usually a 'sticky' skin-to-skin sensation that can be uncomfortable and give more heat. If you use the muslin between your arm and the baby's body it will not give it heat and it will avoid that feeling.
  • As a summer sheet. It serves for home and for the street.
  • To provide shade or privacy in the stroller when the baby sleeps. Yes, we cross this option because it has been shown that it is not good for the baby. This use is very frequent among moms, especially in summer to cover the sun. It has been shown that when muslin covers the air intake in the stroller, a temperature rise is generated that can be detrimental to the baby's health. Therefore, we do not recommend this use. To prevent the sun from entering the carrycot it is better to use umbrellas or extendable hoods.
  • As a play mat in a park or lawn.
  • To cover the surfaces where you are going to change the diaper for the baby
  • To use after eating as a shoulder protector, mattress or stroller. It is very easy to wash, it does not spoil and it dries quickly. If you have two or three much better, so if you wash some you always have a spare.

Surely some of the moms who read us could say some more use. If so, go ahead!

After reading all the possibilities of uses that they have, you will surely want to have one for your baby, right? Well ... We have a draw! Yeah!

  1. With my little one I give it a thousand uses, but his favorites are: beach play blanket ... and ghost costume!

  2. The little one is not yet born but we will use it to make him feel protected among thousands of other things including the ghost

  3. My little one is no longer a baby, she is almost 3 years old, but she still uses it to make castles under the table and cover herself on the sofa! He loves it!

  4. To sleep, as or more essential than the xumet; i per amagar-s'hi i play tat!

  5. I HAVE NEVER USED IT TO WRAP UP THE BABY, BECAUSE I BUYED IT IN SUMMER AND MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN IN JANUARY. BUT NOW THAT I REPEAT IN BRIEF I WILL USE THE ONE THAT I HAVE IN THIS WAY, TO SEE THAT SUCH.

  6. I hope to use them when my baby is born in February to wrap it well and that it is very warm !! 🙂

  7. My child will be born in late April. I would use it to wrap it, give it the breast that is gathered ... 🙂

  8. My little one will be born in January and we will surely be able to use her in her crib, to tuck her while she eats, to tuck her on the street in spring, to go to the field, play ... A thousand things as she grows up!

  9. I hope I can give it a thousand uses with the little one inside me! As it is planned to come out this November, it will be great to protect her from the cold while I breastfeed her 🙂

  10. I would use it to breastfeed both in summer and winter, and since it is born now in December so that it has one more layer

  11. I love! I will use it when the baby is born to wrap it and to breastfeed it. As one more layer since it is born in winter! Regards!

  12. I am pregnant and still do not know the different use that I can give it but I love the idea of taking my baby wrapped in a muslin!

  13. My baby will be born in April and I hope I can give him all the utilities that you have taught me! Thank you!!

  14. Since he was born in September, he sleeps wrapped in one to prevent him from waking up with the reflex movements he makes.

  15. To put it on the sofa, to change it and to wrap it in winter and keep it warm!

  16. I use it as a reducer in the car seat or to cover the sun. There is always a little ray that sneaks between the parasols and hits him right in the face.

  17. We have given muslin many and very different uses. My three-year-old daughter still uses it, basically as a “linus” amulet, it does not separate from her, also as a blanket when we go by car, to cover her wrists… we had used it a lot to cover the sun in the stroller and in the car, to stretch over anywhere and especially to cover it. I love!

  18. In principle I would use it to wrap the baby, although I'm sure I will find more uses for it later.
