In Baby Experience We are very concerned about the safety of our babies, which is why we are experts in child restraint systems in the car. But safety has to be a factor to consider in all areas, not just on the road. Sometimes we think that at home we are safe from harm, but when we talk about children, things change, and the dangers multiply.

For this reason, today we bring you some tips to avoid accidents at home when we have small children.

First of all, one of the most common recommendations to become aware of the dangers around us is to walk around the house as if we were babies, that is, crawling. In this way we will realize that their point of view and ours are not the same, and that there are things that will go unnoticed to us while they will attract a lot of attention.

That being said, this is our check list to have a home as safe as possible:

  • Watch out for the stairs! Better put fences to prevent the kids from falling.
  • Attentive to toxic products. Better to have them in a place inaccessible to them.
  • Keep any dangerous objects such as knives, scissors, lighters etc. out of your reach.
  • Put security locks on drawers and cabinets that we don't want them to open.
  • Plugs are a fantastic world that the little ones will want to discover, better cover them with protectors.
  • Very important: do not leave small pieces loose around the house! They could end up in our son's mouth ...
  • Avoid having tablecloths on, children can pull on them and throw everything on them.
  • When the baby is learning to walk, we will have to pay special attention to the corners of the furniture, a blow there with his head could be very dangerous.
  • We have to be alert when the oven is hot, or in winter, that the radiators do not burn too much.
  • We can put bumpers on the doors to prevent them from closing completely and they can catch the little fingers of our little ones.
  • Prevent access to windows by moving any furniture away from them where the child could line up.
  • Bath time can be a lot of fun, but to be able to rest easy, put a non-slip mat.
  • Plants may seem harmless, but some are poisonous! It is better to ask our regular gardener or florist which plants and flowers are best to keep away from our baby.

What safety measures do you take at home to avoid accidents?
