There are many things that it is exciting to prepare for the arrival of a new member in the family, such as the stroller, the clothes, or the topic that we will discuss today: baby's bedroom. But as it usually happens to us, we find a lot of ideas which one is prettier and that we fall in love with without helping us decide how we want our baby's room to be.

This is why today we bring you some tips to help you decorate the baby's bedroom without dying trying:

  1. First of all it is very important to keep in mind at all times what the room is like. Is small? Big? Bright? With windows that face the street? Is the ground cold? We have to be clear about several aspects that are going to condition us a lot when choosing how we are going to decorate it. Be realistic, if you only have a tiny room, it is not a good idea to paint it ocean blue, because it is going to eat us.
  2. Related to the first point, it is very important keep in our mind the characteristics of the room to choose the furniture. Remember what the fabulous architect Mies Van der Rohe said: "Less is more". It is better to choose to buy the basic furniture: crib, wardrobe, and changing table. For the crib we can choose the option of a convertible crib that has built-in drawers and changing table and that in a few years we can convert into a bed, or we can choose a traditional crib. Wardrobe we have them in a thousand shapes, colors and sizes. Our advice: the more storage, the better. Regarding the changing table, there is a difference of opinion, some parents buy a changing table, while others prefer to buy only the changing mat and put it on a dresser, so that they accumulate less junk when the child stops using diapers. Evaluate the space of the room to decide which option is the best for you.
  3. Are you clear what color the bedroom will be? Difficult, right? The sex of the baby usually determines, although many families opt for neutral colors such as gray, beige or white. The usual thing is to choose neutral and soft colors and avoid too bright colors. A red wall would overstimulate the baby and not make it easier to rest. An option that in addition to being practical is fun, is to choose a color palette and base it on the color of the wall and the furniture, accessories, etc. For example, white walls and furniture with accessories in bright and vivid colors, or a gamma composed of gray, yellow and wood tones. In this way it will be much easier for you to choose furniture and decorative objects.
  4. Curtains and rugs. They are important components especially if the floor is not very warm or if the window lets in too much light or has views of the street. A good carpet will make the bedroom less cold and will also help to prevent the baby from catching a cold when he starts playing on the floor. And how they disturb the prying eyes of the neighbors, right? Well, you know, a couple of very fun curtains and we will maintain the privacy of our baby, in addition to reducing the amount of light that can disturb the sensitive eyes of the little one.
  5. As beautiful as a room is, the most important thing is that in the end it is practical. We do not want to have to go from one side to the other picking up things or having to store diapers two meters from the changing table just because the dresser is better there. We repeat: be practical! It is highly recommended to have the clothes and all the basic elements for baby hygiene in a drawer just below the changing table, or in a basket next to it, that we only have to move our hand to get the cremita or the wipes.
  6. First of all: security. It is most important especially when we are giving the last touches to the room, for example hanging pictures on the crib (better elsewhere) or putting beautiful lamps on the dresser or on the shelves that can fall with a blow or stretch the cable . It is more than evident that we have to watch a lot with the plugs and that it is better to secure the furniture to the wall. Use common sense at all times and your baby will surely be more than safe in his bedroom.

Ah! And do not wait too long to start preparing the room, the pregnancy passes faster than it seems and in recent months you are probably not in a position to start painting walls or assembling furniture. Be proactive and start a few months early.

And you, how did you decorate your baby's room?
